Local Services Ads meet homeowners at the moment they search. Leveraging top-funnel paid social prospecting to create more of those moments nearly doubled monthly charged calls, and the lift held through the year.

The situation

The client is a residential home-services contractor whose lead engine is Google Local Services Ads, the pay-per-lead product that puts a Google Guaranteed listing above the regular search results and charges only for qualifying phone calls. The business offers a mix of interior and exterior services, which means demand swings hard with the seasons.

The challenge

Heading into 2026, lead volume was flat at 13 charged calls a month outside of peak season. LSA works at the moment of search, reaching homeowners who are already looking for a contractor. With nothing upstream building awareness, the account was competing for the same pool of searches as every other contractor in the area, with little leverage to grow that pool during the slower months.

The solution

  1. Use paid social to create the searches

Meta campaigns run visual before-and-after work in local feeds, building awareness with homeowners before they ever open a search bar. When those homeowners later search for a trusted local contractor, the Google Guaranteed listing is the natural place to land.

  2. Rotate LSA categories with the season

Rather than bidding on every service year-round, LSA job categories shift with demand: interior services lead in the first quarter, and exterior services scale up into the second and third.

  3. Keep the trust signals strong

Post-job review collection is systematized so the star rating keeps climbing, reinforcing top-of-page placement under the Google Guaranteed badge.

  4. Dispute what isn’t a lead

Call logs are audited weekly and non-qualifying calls, wrong numbers, and spam are disputed so spend goes only to real residential projects.

Charged calls are Google Local Services Ads platform-reported, after disputes, January through August 2026.

Monthly charged calls climbed from 13 in January to a peak of 24 in the spring, then held at 21–22 a month through the summer rather than falling back. Across the first eight months of 2026 the account delivered 152 charged calls. The timing of the lift lined up with paid social entering the mix, and it held after the seasonal peak had passed.

Why it worked

Paid social was the catalyst. LSA wins the moment of search, but it doesn’t create the search, so the fastest way to grow it was to put more homeowners in that moment. Visual proof of work in local feeds primed homeowners before they searched, and the seasonal category rotation and steady reviews made sure the listing was the one they called when they did. Disputing bad calls kept the spend honest.

For any local business running LSA in a silo: the channel isn’t stalled, it’s starved. Feed it demand from upstream and it scales.
